The Domane SL 7 AXS 1x Gen 5 pairs a 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame with SRAM Force AXS E1 1×13 shifting and Bontrager Aeolus Pro 51 carbon wheels. Clearance for 40 mm tyres and a 20 mm rise cockpit make it a fast, comfortable all road endurance bike.
The Domane SL 7 AXS 1x Gen 5 is the fifth generation of Trek’s endurance road platform, and it arrives lighter, simpler and more focused than the bike it replaces. The frame is 500 Series OCLV Carbon with internal cable routing, a T47 threaded bottom bracket, UDH compatibility, a removable front derailleur hanger and integrated frame bag mounts. Road Endurance Geometry carries over from the previous generation, which means a taller stack, a stable front end and a riding position that stays sustainable well past the four hour mark. Frame weight sits at 1055g with a 442g fork, and a complete ML build comes in at 8.14 kg with sealant and no tubes.
The headline change for this generation is the removal of IsoSpeed. Trek’s testing shows vibration absorption stays within 5% of the previous generation when compared on the specified 35mm tyres, while the bike loses weight and complexity. In its place, compliance comes from a round 27.2 mm Bontrager RSL carbon seatpost, generous tyre volume and a frame layup that lets the rear triangle move under load. The result is a snappier, more performance oriented ride feel that still soaks up chip seal, cattle grids and the kind of surfaces that turn a stiff race bike into hard work.
Gearing comes from SRAM Force AXS E1 in 1×13 form, paired with a Force XPLR rear derailleur and an XG-1371 10-46 cassette. The 44T aero crank includes a power meter as standard, and crank length changes with frame size, running 160 mm on XS and S, 165 mm on M and ML, and 170 mm on L and XL. A single ring setup removes front shifting entirely, which means one lever action, no cross chaining and no dropped chains on rough descents. The 10-46 spread gives a low gear deep enough for extended climbing while still holding a usable cadence on fast group roads, and the integrated chain keeper adds another layer of security when the surface gets loose.
Rolling stock is Bontrager Aeolus Pro 51 OCLV Carbon, tubeless ready front and rear with a SRAM XD-R driver. The 51 mm depth is fast in open conditions without becoming unmanageable in crosswinds, and the tubeless setup lets you run lower pressures for grip and comfort. Bontrager Kwaremont Pro tyres in 700×35 mm come fitted with GR puncture protection and a 120 tpi casing, and the frame accepts up to 40 mm if you want more cushioning on gravel sectors. Braking is handled by SRAM Paceline X rotors at 160 mm, with clearance for 180 mm at the front.
The cockpit reflects how the Domane SL 7 AXS 1x Gen 5 is meant to be ridden. The Bontrager Comp Riser bar adds 20 mm of rise, a short 70 mm reach and 9 degrees of flare, so the hoods sit higher without stacking spacers and the drops open up for better control on descents. A Trek RCS Pro stem with a negative 7 degree rise keeps the front end tidy and works with the RCS headset system. Bar width scales with size across the range, from 36 cm on XS through to 42 cm on XL.
Practicality is part of the package. The Domane SL 7 AXS 1x Gen 5 takes two bottles inside the frame, plus a frame bag, triangle bag and top tube bag on every size except XS, which accepts a triangle bag and top tube bag. Mudguard mounts are included, RSL Aero Bottle compatibility is retained, and the Bontrager Switch chamfered thru axles make wheel removal quick. Six frame sizes cover the same rider range as the previous 47 to 62 line up.
